Letrozole, also known as Femara, belongs to a category and class of drugs known as aromatase inhibitors. It is non-steroidal and is one of three aromatase inhibitors available. It was developed after Arimidex but before Aromasin and is the strongest and most potent of the three. Bodybuilders and athletes quickly caught on to the use of Letrozole because of the drug’s capabilities.
The standard dose for Letrozole tablets is 25mg and even a dose as small as 2.5mg is effective enough to reduce circulating estrogen levels by around 98%. For the purpose of treating women with breast cancer, the prescribed dose is 2.5mg per day. Such a low dose is extremely potent and is taken until the cancer is in remission.
Bodybuilders and athletes utilizing anabolic steroids will usually favor aromatase inhibitors such as Letrozole for its ability to eliminate rising Estrogen levels at its root cause: aromatase.
Letrozole doses are approximately 1.25mg – 2.5mg daily. There is room to adjust the dosage and it becomes user preference, as each individual should slowly adjust their dose depending on how they feel the body is responding. Even 1.25mg daily is too much for some anabolic steroid users, and often times the recommended dose is actually 1.25mg every other day and often can be even less frequent especially considering the half-life of Letrozole is 2-4 days.
