Biphasiс isophane insulin injection I.P. is an injectable agent produced by Novo Nordisk Labs. The active ingredient in the solution is Insulin, a peptide hormone produced naturally by the body’s pancreas. Insulin is used in medicine to treat Diabetes which is a disease where the body doesn’t produce enough Insulin (type 1 diabetes) or even becomes resistant to it (type 2 diabetes). When patients with this condition get high blood sugar, Insulin is prescribed to help to reduce that blood sugar. Biphasic Insulin, commonly called premixed insulin, contains a blend of long-acting and short-acting insulin for more precise blood sugar control.
The effects of Insulin
Insulin is said to be the main anabolic hormone in the body since it increases nutrient storage and prevents cell breakdown. It is responsible for absorbing the glucose (sugar) that you get from carbs, fats and protein which it then stores in the muscle, fat and liver in the body where it can then be used for energy. Therefore, with an increase in Insulin, there will be an increase in energy. Insulin also helps to boost muscle protein synthesis and decrease muscle protein breakdown. Therefore, it can help to build muscle as long as enough protein and amino acids are consumed during its use.
How to take it
Insulin is usually taken post-workout and 30 minutes before a meal in a dose of 2-5IU per day. Some experienced users may take up to 10IU daily but this is definitely not advised for beginners to the use of this drug. A large dose will usually be split into 2-3 doses throughout the day but they need to be taken at least 4 hours apart so that the amount of Insulin is not overlapped. If you are inexperienced with using this drug, it is highly recommended to use a low dose once a day.
IMPORTANT: It is vital that you consume a sufficient amount of carbohydrates for 3-6 hours after each Insulin injection, preferably from 3 separate meals, in order to keep your blood sugars at a healthy level. Also do NOT sleep during this time in case your blood sugar drops too low!
Insulin is commonly taken in combination with Human Growth Hormone (HGH) since the effects of HGH help to keep blood sugar levels from getting too low after taking Insulin. This is a much safer way to administer Insulin.
If you have too much Insulin in your blood, your blood sugar will become too low, causing Hypoglycemia. The initial symptoms of Hypoglycemia are drowsiness, fatigue, irritability, paleness and shakiness.
If any of these symptoms occur, then you need to consume food or drink containing carbohydrates immediately to raise your blood level back up.
In severe cases, Hypoglycemia may result in confusion, blurred vision, seizures, loss of consciousness, a combination of these or may even lead to death. Therefore, it is strongly advised to take this medication according to the directions of a specialist.
